What is our Bespoke Web Application Service?
Our bespoke web application development service is aimed towards two types of businesses, or individuals:
- Those who are looking to launch the next big idea into the online world, such as the next Facebook, Flickr, BaseCampHQ or Moo.com.
- Those who need to improve their internal business workflows and processes through bespoke software developed to solve a specific business problem – or to just have a process automated to improve quality within their business.
How do we get started?
We sit down over a coffee for an initial meeting and discuss what you’re trying to achieve and when you need it by. We then take all these requirements and visions, simmer it down to what we believe can be delivered within the time frame and then work furiously on the project to give you what we all consider a working product*.
* Subject to agreement on features for the first version of the product. We will need to sit down with key members of your business to understand and document critical parts of your product.
What’s included in this service?
From start to finish we provide all the design and technical services required to build your product, from user interface design through to application & hosting architecture. After project completion we include all the essentials to help get your product up and running quickly, we call this our handover pack, and is delivered to you upon successful launch of your bespoke web application.
This handover pack includes (depending on complexity of project):
- 1 day of application training – giving you full visibility on how you operate your new software for up to 5 staff.
- 1 day of developer training* – we go through all the technical details of the project to ensure that up to 3 developers are fully aware of the product.
- A training manual on how to use and operate your new software product.
- Full web application source code & project documentation.
- 30 day software warranty for issues which may arise.
* If your ultimate goal is to maintain the software in house, then we also provide full documentation and have allowed for a hand over meeting to one or more of your sofware developers. You must ensure that your developer has prior experience
What technology do we use?
We use the right tool for the job, however most projects & products commissioned on this service are built using Ruby On Rails, tested with cucumber, monitored by G.O.D. We chose Ruby on Rails because of its support network, and because it was created to get the job done cleanly and quickly.
